Area information
Arcos de la Frontera, a town that Azorín proclaimed as “one of the most beautiful in Spain” was founded at the highest point of a cliff. Arcos is the natural access to Grazalema mountains and heads the well known White Villages Route. Its good travel connections allow easy day trips to Jerez and Cadiz Bay.
The old town of Arcos, which was declared Historic and Artistic Monument in 1962, is worth a visit without hurry, enjoying a walk through its sinuous streets, whitewashed houses, old convents and majestic churches.
Besides the opportunity to discover Arcos´ old quarter, a visitor may go to the lake and participate in some of the water sports activities there. Also nearby is a golf course open to the public.
Due to its privileged central location, Arcos is an ideal place from which explore the region: Grazalema Natural Park, White Villages Route, Los Alcornocales Natural Park, Wine Route, Jerez de la Frontera, the Equestrian School in Jerez, the coast and beaches, Seville,…
Travel information
The hotel is located in the heart of the old quarter, on a pedestrian street called Maldonado. As in most of the old towns in Andalucía, streets are narrow and parking is limited.
By Car:
- Once you are in Arcos, follow the signs for Centro Ciudad, the city centre, or Conjunto Monumental, the old town.
- Drive up the hill to Plaza del Cabildo; it is a tolled parking area and a 24-hour ticket is offered to our guests at a discounted price.
- Once your car is parked, take Escribanos St. towards Plazuela de Boticas on foot.
- Then take the first right and the hotel is at the end of the street, opposite Olivares Veas Theatre.
On Foot:
- If you prefer not to drive up to the old town, try to use the underground parking in Paseo de Andalucía, or in our sister Hotel Los Olivos car park at an additional cost.
- If you decide to park at Hotel Los Olivos, please go into the hotel and tell the receptionist that you are a guest of Hotel El Convento.
- From there you must walk up the hill; it is a 10 minute walk.
By Public Transport:
Alternatively, you can take a taxi. Hotel Los Olivos could call one for you.
There is also the small Bus Centro which runs every day except Sundays and stops at Plaza España, between the underground parking and Hotel Los Olivos, and at Hotel El Convento.
